Myopia – a condition of the eye where the light that comes in does not directly focus on the retina but in front of it. This causes the image that one sees when looking at a distant object to be out of focus, but in focus when looking at a close object.

Myopia can be compared to a throw of a little girl. We can assume that the incident beam is basketball ball and the retina on which a clear image is formed - a basket. In order to get a point, she has to throw the ball into the basket. In order to create a clear image – the rays must focus directly on the retina. The ball falls to the ground before reaching the basket (beams intersect at a point before the retina, so it does not create a scale image). In order to reach the basket and gain points, the child must get closer to basket (to intersect rays on the retina, the object has to be brought closer to eyes).
